The Central Klickitat Conservation District, partnering with Eastern Klickitat CD,  holds annual plant sales in order to provide a convenient source of plants for conservation and landscape planting, and to raise money for conservation projects in the district throughout the year.

The installation of these plants will benefit Klickitat County in many ways, including, but not limited to:

  • Improved soil structure and stability
  • Increased water infiltration
  • Reduced soil erosion by water and/or wind
  • Increase shading of streams, resulting in lower water temperatures and improved fish habitat
  • Enhanced habitat for wildlife and birds
  • Reduced nutrient, sediment, and chemical runoff into ground–  and/or surface water
  • Edible berries and nuts for human use
  • Improved aesthetics
  • Water conservation due to replacement of inappropriate plants with native species
  • Improved physical and psychological well-being resulting from fresh air, exercise, and social interaction

Special thanks to Mid-Columbia Producers in Goldendale (formerly Klickitat Valley Grain Growers) for letting us use their building on pick-up day!

During the 2011 tree sale we delivered more than 9,900 plants to 100+customers, raising over $3000 for the district.   Our customers included farmers and ranchers, small acreage owners, urban residents, schools, and civic groups.  Thanks to all who supported our 2011 tree sale!

Next tree sale will be March 24, 2012.  We will begin taking orders in January.  If you are not currently on our mailing list and would like to receive a catalog and order form, call Mindy at 509-773-5823 ext. 5,  or download a .pdf copy now: 2012 Plant Sale Catalog 2012 Order Form

Considering filling in open areas on my property, in Centerville, with hybrid poplar. Price list available? How many available? Seedlings? When should trees be available? Reccomended planting spacing?
